Associate Data Analyst

IDC Canada seeks an associate data analyst to join our growing Canadian practice on a full-time basis. Working as part of a team, the successful candidate will develop and manage internal product and pricing databases and models used by our research teams in delivering our data products and custom projects to clients. The associate data analyst will also be expected to improve data source input, vet existing models, and confirm data modeling results. This will involve a significant amount of time programming VBA in Excel/Access for process automation.







Responsibilities:

  1. Manage Microsoft Access-based product and pricing databases
  2. Develop user-friendly analyst data modeling tools in Microsoft Excel and Access.
  3. Provide regional support for worldwide database platforms developed in PostgreSQL
  4. Enhance and expand existing data modeling sources (firmographics, survey data, etc.)
  5. Improve the data quality assurance process for IDC Market Measurement products
  6. Create technical and end-user documentation for database and modeling tools developed in-house
  7. Manage various local and global projects, ensuring project milestones and deliverables are met
  8. Establish and maintain communication channels with team members, management and sales staff providing advice/guidance as needed
  9. Information and communication technologies market sizing/segmentation for custom consulting projects


Skills and Experience:

The successful associate data analyst candidate will need strong teamwork skills, project management experience with demonstrated success in creating positive change in a dynamic team environment. Self-motivation and time management are critical as the successful candidate will often work independently under short timelines. The desired individual will have a minimum of an undergraduate degree with experience working with custom-built database applications. Experience in market demand sizing and forecasting is preferred. Additionally, the following skills and attributes are desired:
  1. University degree or Post secondary education - Computer science or a numerical/quantitative field with programming experience
  2. Advanced knowledge of Excel, Access, and VBA
  3. Excellent technical and end-user documentation skills
  4. Presentation and written communication skills
  5. Ability to design and improve workflow processes
  6. Ability to work at varying degrees of pressure and intensity
  7. Ability to work in a fast paced multi-project environment with the ability to re- prioritize effectively when necessary
  8. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in data generation
  9. Must be good at building and maintaining relationships with colleagues and clients at all levels
